Welcome to Chris Townley Writes in 2025
My career has shifted. Where is it all headed? I don’t know yet, but I’m embracing the exploration.
*I posted this profile on my socials, but if you don’t follow me there I wanted to share a bit of what’s to come in this season of life.*
My career has shifted. Where is it all headed? I don’t know yet, but I’m embracing the exploration. Here’s what is unfolding:
Currently, I am the chief of unskilled labor as Kate and I begin building our house. Now, to be fair, I have skills but my contractor asked that I stop launching rocks into the trench as I shout “3 ball!” at the top of my lungs. Turns out part of unskilled labor is hauling the rocks back out anyway. The role includes most anything involving dirt, honestly. At all times my work is supervised by the site’s Project Manager. She is cute, can’t speak, but is watchful. Maddy is a self-preservationist who likes to see work done right. She even has a uniform she dons each day at the property.
My other career is the evolving notion that I am a writer. You might have noticed it seems like a nice hobby, which it is, but it is also an art I work on each day. Over the past year I have received many nice rejections for this effort. 2025 will be different. And if you follow along I’ll be sure to share the writing that gets published (coming soon!). As I continue to put together a collection of essays, I made up the genre within which they fit. Look out for a smattering of ecotheonarratology writings in the year to come, as well. Lastly, I’m working on transitioning my doctoral dissertation into a published book. (If you know anyone who wants to publish “A Trinitarian Vision for Shared Leadership: Embracing Hospitality as a Transformative Pathway” please send them my way!).
To top it off, I’d love it if you subscribed to my Substack to stay engaged with my writing (I promise there will be more pictures of Maddy too!). There is not a rhythm to the Substack posting, just an indelible commitment to following the muse and sharing the outcome. It’s what I’ve grown to call “transformative path-walking” because I’m committed to growing as a person, but at the pace of walking, and you’re all invited to join the stroll.
"At the pace of walking." Love that. Me too, friend.
